Today is National Day of Play! In honor of the day, Gymboree Play and Music offered free classes to all children. Gymboree has classes for your little ones aged 0-5 years old and the classes are grouped by age. For Avery’s age group, many kids showed up and they had a blast playing together for 45 minutes.
After the class, we met with with some of our family and decided to continue with the theme and play outside with bubbles.
Why Bubbles you’re probably wondering? Gymboree has taught me so much about developing your child. A few things that I recently learned from Gymboree are that:
- Airborne bubbles stimulate eye tracking.
- Bubble popping and catching encourages hand-eye coordination.
- Bubble play encourages concentration and movement.
- Bubbles provide amusement and interaction for bubble-lovers.
So the next time you’re outside, try letting your little one lead the way in the pursuit of bubbles. Allow them to move freely to catch and pop bubbles together by clapping their hands or poking at them with their little fingers. Encourage their imagination and talk about where bubbles go!
This is just one of the many things that you can do to help develop you’re little one. As you may remember, Avery loves splashing around in the pool and that helps with their development as well. Swimming not only builds your little ones confidence but it also helps improve their coordination and balance. When you’re little one is in the pool, most of their weight is supported by the water. Swimming allows them to exclusively focus on maintaining their balance.
Whatever methods of play you’re enjoying with you’re little one, just continue to have fun. And if you chose to experiment with bubbles, I hope that you have just as much fun on your bubble popping adventures as we do! Happy popping!
