We haven’t had a chance to visit Gymboree Play and Music for a couple of weeks so we were happy to get back into the swing of things this week. And just in time for this weeks theme of soft scapes for Avery’s class. Soft scapes consists of all of the foam and air filled pieces like the air log that you will see a video of Avery pushing as well as the handle ball that they rocked on.
Each time we visit Gymboree Play and Music, the set up is completely different. This gives the babes a chance to discover new possibilities and develop new interests.
At our last visit, Avery was not walking and now he is so he got to see things from a different perspective!
Even though Avery is now walking, I still challenged him to look down low and discover different crawling tunnels. I couldn’t get him to crawl through the colorful rainbow tunnel this week but he did enjoy this little gem featured below.
With Avery’s new perspective, he also couldn’t get enough of the balance beam! He just kept walking up to it and banging on it like a drum. He’s clearly keeping his eye on it and counting down the day when he can actually walk on this thing.
Avery loves the instructor lead play activities. They encourage him to push through obstacles and promote teamwork! Avery was so into pushing this air log that he didn’t want to stop! Avery ended up pushing it back to the wall for clean-up. He is so helpful.
Avery also loves Parachute time! This week the other babes were too shy to join in. One things that I’m proud of Avery for having is courage and bravery to try new things, even when everyone else is too scared or shy.
At Gymboree Play and Music, the classes are organized by age. I’m not sure how old Avery’s new friend was today but I remember just a couple of weeks ago, Avery wasn’t walking either. And the great thing about being around other babes in your age group is that it level sets you and encourages you to catch up to the same milestones as your age group. If this babe was in fact the appropriate age group class for today, I’m sure that she will be walking in no time.
Lastly and without a doubt, Avery’s favorite activity is sliding down the slide. They didn’t have the smaller slide set up this week so we went for the big boy slide. As soon as I placed him on top, he lit right up!!
I held Avery’s hand and he slide down the slide and when he would get to the bottom he would be so excited that he would try to crawl back up. I took this as a sign to take him back to the top of the slide.
Back at the top, the excitement seemed to multiply! And we would slide down again and again. Until it was time for lunch.
