The more people I meet, the more I realize that my families desire of actually wanting to be around each other all the time is not normal! Haha.
On my Father’s side of the family, we have an annual Family Reunion that has consistently been going on for over 135 years! And we are black. Where they do that at? They even had a family play a few years ago where they rein-acted our family history. We have a family history museum on the premises of where we have our annual family reunions, we have a family historian and they even have a family history book that they sell at the reunion along with t-shirts with our family crest on it. And they are country as heck y’all!! Yeah, I know that’s not normal. But there a lot more to this story that I may share some other time. I digress.
On my Mothers side, we get together for every holiday and just about any occasion to celebrate. So why would Labor Day be any different? This particular time, they had their Family Reunion the weekend of Labor Day so let’s just say that we had obligations to be in a lot of different places. And since this is all Avery’s first time, I tried my best to capture these moments with family for us to look back on. In this photo, Avery is pictured here with cousin Lakeia.
What are some traditions that your family has that you may now be realizing are not so common? 🤪
