Today will be Avery’s first time swimming (or just relaxing) at the pool! Last summer I just didn’t have the strength to take him to the beach or pool but this summer we will do it all!
One of my really good friends has her daughter in tadpole swim classes at the local aquatic center. I’ve considered putting Avery in something like this but let’s be honest, I’m a black woman with natural hair who chooses to wear it pressed out most of the time. How is that really gonna work?
I’m not even sure how today will work but I’m going to be forced to figure it out this time. If anyone has tips, please let me know in the comments. In the past, I’ve tried swim caps but the water seems to just seep in through anyway.
I’ve already gotten Avery’s:
- swim trunks and top
- pool hat
- swim diapers
- sunscreen
- pool float
He has swim friendly shoes too but I don’t think he will need them. I want to protect my son from harmful sun rays and I’ll just have to see what all is necessary when the time comes.
Ever since I’ve blown up the float, Avery has not gotten out of it. This is a good sign! I’ll update this post or maybe create a separate post once we’ve experienced the pool with any tips, recommendations or just to let you all know how it went. Stay tuned!
He’s going to love the water! Avery is all about cool adventures. Can’t wait to read the follow-up
